Project DOCUMENTATION
Here is our documentation of what we participated in each day. Throughout the duration of this project we documented each step through photographs and videos. Each photograph is organized into each day, documenting our process of building our prototype.
First Day - april TWELFTH
On the first day of our project we were assigned our groups. Once we were in our groups we took a few minutes to brainstorm some ideas individually. Then we collaborated our ideas and formed a list of all the ideas, once we had the list formed we created a decision matrix to help us decide which idea would be most successful and realistic to create. Later on in the day we formed interview questions to help us gain a better understanding of how the park was used and how it could improve. We then went to Kaiser Park to find a space that we could use and to interview people to gain a better insight of the park.
Second Day - April fourteenth
On the second day of this project we signed up for who would go to Kaiser Park after school to interview more people. We also decided what idea would work the best, this is when we decided on Extreme Tether-ball. We created a presentation and presented to three other groups. These other groups then gave us feedback, telling us what they liked about it, what parts they didn't understand, and what parts we could improve. We also were able to give feedback to other groups and learned how we could improve our project.
Third Day - april eighteenth
On the third day we mostly focused on the details of our prototype. We wanted to make sure we had every detail completed. So we sketched out the mechanics of our project. The we focused on the aesthetics of the project, we decided on what colors would look best and blend well with the colors of the park. This then led to making a materials list of what we would buy from home depot and step by step instruction s of how we planned to build the prototype. We also decided, after looking at all the options that the best location for our project would be in the grass nearby the play ground since it is an area that is nearby somewhere that gets lots of attention but the area itself could be improved a bit and influence more of an interaction between people.
forth day - april TWENTIETH
On the fourth day of this project some of the members of our group went to Home Depot to purchase the supplies to build our prototype. While a third of our group was at Home Depot, another third had a meeting with Key Sight representatives to discuss how to become a be a good leader and the best ways to lead a team. The last third of our team stayed behind in a classroom and worked on the aesthetics and the documentation.
fifth day - april TWENTY-SECOND
On the fifth day of this project we focused mainly on building then prototype. We wielded the poles so the horizontal pole had twists in it. Then we wielded the vertical poles so we could connect the horizontal pole to it. While the poles were being wielded by half the group, the other half mixed the concrete in two buckets. Once the poles were completely done being wielded we place the two vertical poles in to the two separate buckets. We let them sit overnight so by the next day they would be dry and would not move.
Sixth day - april TWENTY-SIXTH
On the sixth day we finished our tether-ball court. Throughout the day we accomplished grinding the poles. Then we were able to prime the poles to get them ready to be painted. Once the primer dried we painted the poles green and yellow. Then once the paint dried we connected the metal ring to the rope holding the tetherball. Then we connected the metals ring to the horizontal pole and drilled the horizontal pole onto the two vertical poles, completing our Extreme Tether-ball court. A team leader and a media and marketing team member also met for a meeting with one our teachers to discuss how we wanted to advertise and how we wanted to test our prototype.
seventh day - april TWENTY-EIGHTh
On the seventh day we finished making our rules sign. We placed it on the wood stand and covered it with plexiglass. Then we were able to place it outside and let other people test it out throughout class time and lunch. We observed people playing with the Extreme Tether-ball court and took note of how we could improve our prototype. We also asked people about their experience with our project and we were given helpful feedback. Throughout the day we were able to test out other groups projects and give feedback to them. We then decided what days we would take the court out to Kaiser Park and who would interview people while observing the court.
